In 2023 after many years of neglect, deferred maintenance, and multi-year closure, Bagby Hot Springs needed some love. Thousands of pounds of debris were removed, repairs made, new outhouses installed, and restoration started.
When Bagby Preservation was starting operations to restore, manage, and care for Bagby Hot Springs there was a unique opportunity to also take on the operation of the Ripplebrook Camp Store about 14 miles from Bagby Hot Springs. After a year of work and over $35,000 in renovations, the camp store is now open seasonally.
Keeping staff onsite 24/7 is what keeps Bagby Hot Springs safe and operational. Camp host positions are always available!
Much work was done to rebuild and improve the hot and cold water systems. Tubs were repaired and new water lines installed. Soaking became fully operational in 2024. (Vandalism is still common to the water lines, so we do our best to repair as soon as vandalism is found).
Bagby Preservation and the US Forest Service removed numerous hazard trees from the Bagby Campground and trailhead area that had accumulated from years of neglect.
Camp hosts have been onsite 24/7 starting in May 2024 and continuing everyday since. Most camp host positions will open at the trailhead, campground, store, and hot springs.
Work is underway to create vandal proof improvements and an on-site staff presence to make Bagby safer, cleaner, and better.
Opportunities for volunteering will be made available through partnerships with local non-profit groups. Trailkeepers of Oregon are actively conducting work to the Bagby Trail and providing training opportunities in the area
Work is underway to have camp hosts at the Bagby Trailhead, Bagby Hot Springs, the Bagby Campground, and the Ripplebrook Store.
